The Marks of Marxism (Part 3 of 5)

Marxism is the social, economic, and political philosophy of Karl Marx. It has proven to be the most divisive, dangerous, and deadly philosophy ever hatched from the mind of a single human. Never has the philosophy of one man been more destructive to nations, societies, cultures, and individual lives.

In the last several years, the truth has bubbled to the surface that a Marxist cultural revolution has been taking place in our country for about the last hundred years. Now, we have one of the major party Presidential candidates who clearly advocates the ideals of Marxism. She doesn’t dare say, “Yes! I’m a Marxist and I want to be your first fully Marxist President,” but her stated positions on many issues, though often rendered in veiled terms, reveal exactly where she is on the political spectrum.

As Christians, we need to understand what Marxism is all about. The matter is urgent. It is urgent that we pray and seek God’s deliverance from this evil threat. It is also urgent that we sound the warning to those who are still sleeping. We are obligated as followers of Christ to stand and speak against evil. People need to know that our children and grandchildren will face many years of sorrow and hardship if Marxism takes root and bears its evil fruit in our country. Life as we now know it will come to an end.

To provide insight into the evil nature of Marxism, we’ve been looking at the Marks of Marxism. In this week’s installment, we’ll look at four of the main marks. We’ll look at other marks over the next two weeks. The first two marks below are repeated from last week with expanded commentary.

  1. Marxism is fundamentally utopian in nature. The intent of Marxism is to bring about an ideal world – a utopia. Marx believed that a new social order would emerge on earth where all people would be free from what he considered the dehumanizing and enslaving constraints of capitalism. He thought this ideal world would allow all people to live fulfilled and meaningful lives without any social, economic, or political oppression. (A world where the oppressed overcome their oppressors is a key to understanding Marxism.) The reason this ideal has never been achieved is because it requires the complete abolition of human self-interest in deference to the greater good of the entire society. A major presupposition of Marxism is that people are basically good and, therefore, capable of being completely unselfish. This, of course, goes against the reality of human nature, as well as against all Biblical truth about mankind (Romans 3:10-12). By contrast, the constitutional system of government adopted by our forefathers takes into consideration the truth about human nature and calls for divided government and checks and balances on the exercise of governmental power. Likewise, capitalism works because it takes advantage of, and is, in fact, driven by the selfish interests of humans. Marxism’s desired social, economic, and political utopia is never realized because it is based on a faulty anthropology – a faulty understanding of man’s true nature.
  2. Marxism can only be implemented through totalitarianism. Even Marx, during his lifetime, came to understand this. Most indoctrinated Marxists in our day understand this, too. They realize that the only way to get people to give up their personal ambitions and dreams for the greater good is to force them to do so for a while – at least until they see how their compliance helps create that greater good for society. It is believed they will then willingly comply without any coercion. That day never comes, though. The most brutal regimes ever known to man, resulting in the deaths of tens of millions of people, were put into place with the intent of establishing an ideal system where all people would be able to live happy, fulfilled lives – free from want or worry. But the need for this totalitarian phase never goes away, because the true nature of human beings never goes away.
  3. Marxism is anti-family. It calls for the abolition of the nuclear family altogether. Instead of a husband and wife and their children forming a family unit, Marx advocated for a community of men and women who would live together and cohabit freely and interchangeably with one another. No man would have a woman exclusively as his wife, and no woman would have a man exclusively as her husband. The children resulting from these communal unions, in a true Marxist social order, would belong to the community, not to their true biological parents. When you hear someone today say, “It takes a village to raise a child,” that’s not just a happy acknowledgment that we all have something to contribute to the lives of children. Even if unknown to the speaker, that statement has its roots in Marxist ideology. Marx believed society at large has the primary responsibility for rearing and educating children, not parents. Today’s parental rights movement is a backlash against this Marxist concept. When the Justice Department labeled the parents who protested against wokeness and transgenderism at school board meetings “domestic terrorists”, it was Marxism at its finest!
  4. Marxism is atheistic, anti-God, and anti-religion. In the free online course, “Marxism, Socialism, and Communism” offered by Hillsdale College, Thomas West, Professor of Politics at Hillsdale College, stated that a true Marxist would think and speak about religion like this: “We have to abolish religion itself in order for there to be true freedom. And that can only take place in terms of this radical transformation of the human condition in which we stop thinking of ourselves as individuals and start thinking of ourselves as part of this other larger whole that communism will usher us into when it is finally and completely established.” Marx said that “Religion is the opium of the masses.” By that he meant that religion comforted people and distracted them from the harsh realities of their present condition in this life, focusing instead on the promise of a better life to come after this life. Marx saw religion as a serious impediment to the establishment of the ideal Marxist society, and as something that needed to be eradicated from the earth.

ICYMI: RFK, Jr., Speaks On-Stage With Tucker

Tucker Carlson is on a month-long cross-country tour and has guests that appear with him on-stage in front of large audiences. Recently, Vivek Ramaswamy and RFK, Jr., appeared with Tucker in Anaheim, California where Kennedy gave a classic defense of First Amendment Freedom of Speech. In his stirring remarks he said, “Any government that can silence its critics has a license for any kind of atrocity.” He went on to give one of the most well-informed, well-reasoned descriptions of the current censorship state and the movement toward anti-free speech and totalitarianism in Western culture. The entire event is well worth watching, but Kennedy’s appearance on stage begins at the 57:00 minute mark of the video. It is MUST SEE TV for freedom and Constitution loving Americans!
