What We Need to Pray About November 8, 2024

A Biblical Response to the Election Results

At the time of this blog post, there are Congressional races still to be determined in Arizona and California. It does appear, however, the Republicans will maintain control of the House of Representatives, thus giving them control of the Senate, House, and Presidency. In this week’s 714 Prayer Report, we want to focus on what our response should be to the outcome of this year’s election.

We Should Respond with Thankful Hearts

“Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever” (Psalm 136:1). Many Christians have been praying that God would have mercy on our nation and give us further opportunity for repentance. God has done that! The election of Kamala Harris would have meant continuation on a path that would have led to our destruction as a nation. With four more years, the Marxist Democrat Party would have brought in millions more illegal aliens and fast-tracked them to citizenship and voting rights. These new citizens would have a natural inclination to vote for the Democrat Party who allowed them to enter the nation. They would have been strategically placed in the states where their votes would mean the most. There would be no more swing states. We would have become a nation ruled by one party – a party dominated by Socialists and Marxists who hate this country, hate what it stands for, and hate its way of life. All our Bill of Rights freedoms would have been up for grabs. The Supreme Court would have been packed. Our Constitutional Republic and the way of life we have known would have been on a path to extinction. John Greenleaf Whittier famously said: “For all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, ‘It might have been.’” But those words are not always sad. In the case of this year’s election, those are joyous words of sweet relief for all Godly patriots, because, at least for four years, those things will not be!

Since many Christians have been urgently pleading with God to have mercy on us and spare us from such a disastrous fate, and since He has heard our cry and answered our prayer, we need to be careful to praise Him and thank Him for what He has done for us. We need to “Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise, Be thankful to Him, and bless His name” (Psalm 100:4). It is a time to read a Psalm like Psalm 136 and rejoice in His mercy and deliverance. In 2 Timothy 3, we are given the signs of Godlessness that will be prevalent in the last days. One of those signs is that men will be unthankful (2 Timothy 3:4). God has given us additional time to repent and get right with Him and avoid destruction. This is not a time for us to be like the rest of the world. We need to be thankful people like the eight-year-old boy named Liam who thanked Jesus for President Trump’s victory1.

We Should See This as A Window of God-given Opportunity

God allowed us an opportunity to step back from the brink, and, in doing so, we now have a small window of opportunity to correct many things. We need to get started making these corrections right away, because the mid-term elections are only two years away and there are no guarantees the House and Senate will remain in Republican hands after that. We never want another close encounter with becoming a Marxist-Communist country like we’ve had this year, so we need to go to work immediately reversing the impacts of nearly one hundred years of a Marxist cultural revolution in the United States.

Certainly, doing whatever it takes to close the border is a Day 1 priority, as are several other pressing matters. But we also need to begin very early in the new Trump administration overhauling our educational system and reclaiming the minds of our children and young people. Marxism has thoroughly infiltrated our schools at every level. The result: our public schools and universities have become indoctrination assembly lines mass producing Marxist and Leftist citizens to populate the future of this nation.  You might state it like this: we are doing a “great job” of indoctrination with our children, but a terrible job of what schools are intended for: education.  When it comes to education spending per student, the United States ranks second in the world in the most recent statistics. But in educational outcomes, like proficiency in certain academic disciplines such as reading, science, and math, we rank anywhere from 13th to 39th depending on which studies you choose for your data. In math, one study has the U.S. ranked 34th in the world. Pete Hegseth has authored a great book with David Goodwin, The Battle for the American Mind: Uprooting a Century of Miseducation. In this book, the authors describe the downfall of the American educational system over the last one hundred years and what needs to be done to fix it. It is highly recommended reading.

As part of this needed overhaul, many people are calling for the dismantling of the Department of Education. Watch this brief video which features an example of our failed educational system and then former Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, calling for an end to the Department of Education. (Here’s a link to a full interview with DeVos on this subject.) This might sound radical, but it would improve almost everything about education in the United States. It would eliminate a lot of red tape, regulation, and government requirements that must be met to maintain federal funding. The red tape and regulation add to the administrative burden on school administrators and teachers. The government requirements are usually laden with demands for compliance with the left-wing social agenda. This is how so much mindless garbage has gotten into our schools. By eliminating the Department of Education and returning control to the state and local levels, parents would be better able to monitor educational policy decisions and have a more direct and powerful voice in the kind of education their children receive. Title IX is an example of how the federal government and Department of Education overreaches. We need to begin praying now for President Trump and his team as they address this.

1 President Trump met Liam while campaigning and gave him a birthday present. Liam has a rare brain disease.
